The Streets alight with Footsteps <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were Drivers in the Cars<\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was Sunshine every morning <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And Darkness every night<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were tears, there was heartbreak <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was an ever hopeful Light<\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But then at once the streets were emptied <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the Gunmen flooded through <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Square flowed red in colour <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the Ghetto housed a Jew<\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soon the Countryside was wired <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the Bricks were mounted high<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Streets were filled with marching <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the Neighbours waved Goodbye <\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This was not some horrid Nightmare<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That would shroud the infant’s mind<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This reality was happening <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Only 1945<\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were rail tracks and wooden huts<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Subtle screams from deep within<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were children beyond the fences<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were innocent of sin<\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were shoes of every size <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And keys from every street <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But these no more could unlock the door <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or protect the exposed feet<\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was death and there was hardship <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was slow and long decay<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were thousands upon thousands <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who would not survive the day <\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were officers and doctors <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who would simply stand and watch<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the innocent in front of them <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Were worked until they rot<\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After far to long the war did end<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And liberated men <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And towards the skies the ones who survived<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cried out upon the when <\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The when and the where<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The who and they why <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Desperate for an answer<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Did they deserve to die <\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The survivors used their faith to move<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It allowed them to forgive<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They were the strongest men and women<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though they all deserved to live<\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The truest strength can be seen today <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In every surviving heart<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The goodness in humanity<\/p>\n\n\n\n
is never far apart <\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because, There are still <\/p>\n\n\n\n
.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Houses in Auschwitz<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Restaurants and bars<\/p>\n\n\n\n
